Prince William Sound Hunting

Whittier Water Taxi starts most Black Bear hunter drop offs in mid-May, depending on the spring breakup. We usually wrap up the fall bear hunts around the end of October, depending upon the weather.   Whittier Water Taxi operates in game management area 6D - please note that Black Bear is usually closed in area 6D between June 10th and September 10th - see ADF&G regulations. Also please note that a harvest ticket is now required for Black Bear.

When planning your Prince William Sound bear hunt, remember these tips:

• The further out from Whittier you go, the less other hunters there will be.
• Hunters that we take out that camp, get more game than those that stay in cabins or lodges.
• Remember to allow enough time for your hunt.
• Snowshoes are handy for early spring bear hunts.
  

Rates:  

For drop off hunts, the water taxi fee is determined by mileage, gear load and number of passengers.

Raft rental and kayak rental are available from Heidi at Alaska Adventure Tours. The raft is a 12’ green raft with a 6HP motor and is $150 per day ($100/day without the motor). The kayaks are Wilderness Systems 14' Pungo Angler single camouflage kayaks and are $45/day. These kayaks are very stable and have fishing pole holders for your convenience.
